About Me

Welcome Starlight! My name is Kamillah. I am a human, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a certified spiritual coach.

Growing up I was a military child and had the privilege of meeting all types of people and experiencing different types of places. However, it was hard on me and affected my emotional and mental health. I was diagnosed with depression when I was 13 years old, and that was later coupled with anxiety and various experiences of trauma. I didn’t know about being a highly sensitive person (HSP) until later on in life and had trouble understanding why I felt emotions so strongly. To me, feeling emotions strongly was normal, and yet all my experiences told me it was a negative thing. I later learned that what I had was CPTSD (complex PTSD), and that allowed me to take better control of my healing.

Through my therapy, I found my calling in being a helper and went to school to be a mental health counselor. In graduate school, I had long days between full-time work, school, and fieldwork, and was severely stressed. With about left 10 months to finish my degree, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune disorder that attacks the nervous system. This was a wake-up call that I needed to slow down and no longer make self-care a privilege but a priority. I turned to spirituality for more guidance on my life journey and how to find stillness in the chaos.

Through my spiritual practice and the spiritual coaching I have received, I have been able to find a sense of peace in Western society that praises being overworked and overtired. I went from running from emotions I was scared of to welcoming them, and being able to have the confidence to tell my story.

How I Help

If you feel lost in your life journey, I will guide you on a path to help you feel more authentic, confident, and at peace. If you have a chronic illness, I will sit with you as you grieve your old self and embrace your new self and the journey ahead. If you are a highly sensitive person (HSP), I will help you find the tools to regulate your emotions. You will realize that feeling emotions strongly is a positive and beautiful thing. You are perfect just the way you are.

I believe that each person’s journey is personal and subjective. I do not generalize and I am very client-centered. This is your journey and I am grateful if you allow me to be your guide. You have the answers in you. I can provide a variety of tools ranging from mindfulness, skills to help you emotionally regulate, and tasks to help you feel more self-compassion. I have had clients tell me they have reduced anxiety, increased their acceptance, and find more calm by working with me.

I will help to hold you accountable, but ultimately you will have to hold yourself accountable. On your journey, I will be a warm presence to confide in. I will be your cheerleader, and help you feel confidence and love in yourself that you didn’t know you had.

Are you ready to embrace the life you were meant to have?
